Sauna Wellness

What's the best way to prepare for my sauna experience?

Before your sauna session, hydrate with at least 8 oz. of water to prepare for an increase in core body temperature. To get accustomed to infrared therapy, start with our Intro 15 Minute Sauna Session with Instruction (required for first time visits). Please listen to your body and if the heat becomes too much for you at any point, exit the sauna.

What should I wear?

You can experience the sauna in whatever amount of clothing you like, including none at all. Men typically wear workout or swim trunks; women typically wear workout shorts and a tank top or sports bra. A towel will be provided on the bench for you to absorb sweat, as will a second towel so you can wipe down your body during and after your session.

What should I do after my sauna experience?

We invite you to help yourself to water and additional relaxation in our spa lounge after your sauna experience. Be sure to keep drinking water after you leave - at least 24 oz.

How often can I take a session?

Many people like to experience sauna's healing benefits several times per week. It is safe to use as frequently as once a day.

Is there any reason why I shouldn't experience a session?

Use of alcohol and other substances prior to your session may result in adverse side effects and should be avoided. Consult your physician if you are taking medication or are in doubt of your ability to use the sauna for health reasons. Pregnant women should not use the sauna.

What is infrared and how is it different than other saunas?

Infrared is part of the sun's invisible spectrum of light and has the ability to penetrate tissue. It uses these characteristics to heat the body directly rather than just the air, like with conventional hot rock/steam heat saunas. Those can often be unbearably hot and only cause you to sweat on the skin's surface. Infrared saunas like ours in The Spa at Yoga 360 increase the body's core temperature, resulting in a much deeper, more detoxifying sweat from the cellular level of the skin where many toxins are stored.

What does it mean for a sauna to deliver three wavelengths?

While some saunas feature infrared therapy with just one wavelength, sauna wellness therapy in The Spa at Yoga 360 brings you the health benefits of all three wavelengths - near, mid, and far.

Near infrared is the shortest wavelength. It promotes skin renewal, cell health, wound healing, and tissue growth. Mid infrared is a longer wavelength that can penetrate deeper into the body's soft tissue where inflammation occurs and speed up the healing process. Far infrared is the longest wavelength, reaching deepest into the body where toxins are stored.

What makes the Wellness Program sessions different than Overall Sessions?

The Wellness Program sessions are designed to emit the optimal blend of infrared wavelengths (based on 56 clinical studies). Each has a specific intention to help you achieve exactly what you need - detox, pain relief, relaxation, or weight loss.

You can also experience healing benefits with an Overall Session. While not targeted toward a specific health result like a Wellness Program session is, an Overall Session gently combines all three infrared wavelengths to introduce you to the benefits of sauna as a way to achieve your wellness goals.
