Oriental Medicine (OM) is an ancient, yet sophisticated system of holistic healing that views a person as an energy system in which body and mind are in harmony and unified, each influencing the other. The philosophy is based on the flow of an universal life energy called "qi", that circulates throughout the body along specific pathways called meridians. If there is imbalance or obstruction of the qi, illness and pain can occur. OM works to restore normal functions by stimulating certain points along the meridians, allowing free flow to all body systems. This is accomplished by utilizing the appropriate OM modality--acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, tui na or Chinese Herbology. The acupuncture needles are a very fine gauge solid, sterilized, stainless steel (single use). OM is effective for physical, psychological and emotional complaints, as well as health maintenance and disease prevention. All treatments are tailored specifically to your individualized constitutional pattern.
A few of the more popular conditions that OM and Acupuncture can help:
Acupuncture and Herbal Therapy for Infertility. Traditional Chinese Medicine offers a natural and holistic way to support your efforts to get pregnant.Often “infertility” is just an imbalance in the systems of the body.TCM can help harmonize the endocrine system and correct hormonal imbalances, establishing a fertile environment to support new life. Treatments ideally should begin at least 100 days (the length of time for new follicle and sperm growth and development) before attempting conception.Regardless, TCM can benefit pregnancy outcome at any time.Used alone, or in conjunction with IVF and other western assisted reproductive techniques, it is useful for either female or male factor infertility.
Acupuncture for Stress. Medical research has proven stress to be an initiating or exacerbating factor in the disease process.A healthy person is balanced in body, mind and spirit.Imbalances left untreated lead to disease.Chronic stress has been shown to have a negative impact in every body system, demanding all your energy and leaving you drained.Anxiety, depression, insomnia, fatigue, irritability, difficulty concentrating and muscular tension are just a few of the warning signs of this process, and studies have linked stress to increased heart disease, colds and autoimmune disease, headachesand digestive complaints to name a few. While it can’t eliminate the causes of stress in your life, Traditional Chinese Medicine has been proven to reduce the effect of stress in an individual by calming the nervous system and strengthening the adaptive response. The increase in endorphins that acupuncture produces will have you walking out feeling more relaxed and centered.TCM doesn’t just work on the symptoms--the focus is to correct the deeper, constitutional imbalances that lead to disharmony. TCM for Menstrual Complaints. We often consider menstrual problems to be part of the price to pay for being a woman, something that everyone must suffer through. It doesn’t have to be that way.Traditional Chinese Medicine views menstruation as tian gui, or “heavenly water”.PMS, pain, irregular bleeding and other menstrual issues are not considered “normal”, but rather symptoms of a body out of balance—the energy pathways blocked. Emotional, mental and physical demands can create disharmonies in the endocrine and reproductive systems.TCM can help to reconnect the body, mind and spirit holistically into an integrated, vital, balanced being. As the ancient Chinese masters said—“where there is free flow, there is no pain”
