Yoga-360’s Green Factor, or environmental responsiveness, helps the environment and the planet live longer. Integrate these Living Green Ideas in your home- every little bit helps!
Initiate a recycling program. In addition to recycling skin care product containers used in the spa, we encourage clients to do the same with their home products. Offer them incentives, such as discounts on future purchases or an entry into draws to win free treatments, for returning empty containers to our spa. Additionally, look into recycling paper and glass in the spa.
Create your own green space. We have live plants at Yoga-360 to improve air quality, provide interior decoration and enhance relaxation – benefits that both staff and clients enjoy!
Turn it off. We avoid leaving lights on for no reason. We use automatic motion sensors for storage and staff areas. Well-regulated lighting can save 500 pounds of carbon dioxide per year.
Reusable shopping bags. We encourage our client’s to reuse our Yoga-360 shopping bags. A great carry-all, our bags are great for packing tomorrow lunch! We also reward our clients for product purchases over $100 with stylish and reusable Yoga-360 inspired shopping bags. These fabric bags typically hold twice as much as disposable carrier bags and by using reusable bags collectively, we can work together to keep thousands of plastic bags out of our landfills every year.
Recycled material. Whenever possible, we choose products packaged in or made from recycled paper and plastics. We look for products that have a high recycled content including post-consumer recycled content – the higher the post consumer content the better!
Wash in cold water. When possible, we reduce our carbon emissions by 5000 pounds per year by washing in cold water. We choose Energy Star newer energy-efficient washing machines. The US E.P.A states that if just 10% of us used Energy Star appliances, it would be the carbon dioxide pollution reduction equivalent to planting 1.7 million acres of new trees! By choosing Energy Star appliances we are helping to prevent global warming by promoting cleaner air without sacrificing product quality and performance.
Use drinking glasses. Throughout Yoga-360 Studio & Spa we use drinking glasses rather than paper cups. Traditional plastic production emits greenhouse gases with the number of discarded plastic and paper cups reaching over 14.4 billion in 2005. We encourage our yoga students to bring in their own water bottles and fill them from our filtered water system,
Reduce. We reduce the number of disposables used everyday – always thinking before using that extra item that will only end up in our landfills. We choose reusable options where possible: cloth versus paper, washable glasses versus plastic and recycled paper products. We take into consideration how many tissues our estheticians go through in a day, a week, a month – if only one box of virgin fiber facial tissues (175 sheets) were replaced with a 100% recycled option, we would save 163,000 trees. All our studio notes are take on the back of pre-used paper.
Clean sweep. We use organic cleaners. Commercial and industrial cleaning products often contain a brew of toxic chemicals that have the potential to cause injury to those who use them and discomfort for anyone within the products’ breathing space. We use cleaning products that are biodegradable and phosphate-free which prevents accumulation in the environment that contribute to eutrophication in sensitive rivers, lakes, estuaries and other fresh water bodies. Products that are safer for humans are safer for the environment! Plus the scent of non-toxic, all natural cleaners are more inviting to clients and our staff than the smell of bleach or solvents.
We are powerful! We have our computers, printers, hot towel caddies, steamers and wax pots all on power bars. With the flick of a single switch we can turn them all off at once to save energy.
Print with vegetable inks on recycled paper. We business cards and brochures on recycled paper using vegetable-based inks to reduce the carbon imprint and help fight global warming. As with most industries, paper mills have traditionally relied on fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas, a process which releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and is the leading cause of global warming. By choosing recycled paper, or paper that is made from sustainable growth trees for our marketing materials, we will make a difference.

Chill out. We adjust our thermostat! Moving our thermostat up in summer and down in winter by just 2 degrees will reduce the carbon dioxide output by 2000 pounds a year.
Digital Records. We keep records digitally, and print out only when necessary and purchase paper with recycled content.
